Discovered music at an early age. When he bought his first Harmonica at Age 8 actually. Once he played along with his favorite songs, he discovered that there were more keys and therefore more Harmonicas..
In High School he was asked to be the Marching Bands Drum Major by the band director Mr. Wes Hill. Which he did for his Junior and Senior years. His first Drum Major event was at Disneyland in Southern California. The 250 member high school marching band won many events and found Brian was awarded 1st place in many parades for his individual performances.
In the Navy he met many very talented musicians.. Bootcamp found him once again, Drum Major in the Drum & Bugle Corp. Performing at NFL HalfTime events in San Diego.
Buying his first guitar He played many fill-in gigs while in the Navy. With his newly formed acoustic bands those off duty Sailors would cover popular songs of Neil Young, CSN&Y, James Taylor and the like. All in the Philippines, Guam and aboard ship entertaining the fellow shipmates. Winning the talent show while at sea on a long Westpac. Where he wrote his first song. "Mr. Jack".. a song he has in his playlist for his entire musical career.
Following the Navy, Brian Mac went on to perform singer-songwriter shows at Minneapolis, MN and Wisconsin coffee and sandwich shops.
He formed a band called Brian Mac Band, 2009 and performed across the upper Midwest in Bars, Festivals and such...
His first record "Country Think'n" was published in June of 2012.
The Brian Mac Band was a professional performance band that went through many musicians in the line up. And 3 Agencies booking the band in Casinos, Festivals and Bar Events. The line up consisted of Banjo/Utility, Upright Bass, Acoustic Guitar and Percussion. The band did have 2 Electric guitar players at one point. Even a lovely female vocal as the popularity grew. Shortly after a -30, 2am gig in January... Minnesota..
Brian Mac and his wife, Peggy, decided that Nashville, Tennessee was the place for this songwriter. So off they went. Moving from Minnesota to Tennessee in 2011. Keeping the band name Brian booked performances around Nashville, Franklin and Donelson. Always performing Singer-Songwriter gigs in Nashville. Bobby's Idle Hour, The Commodore, Nashville Ear at Bosh Harley and Puckett's Restaurant. He was ironing out and perfecting his tunes through this process. Releasing "Smiles All Around" in October of 2014, "Something In The Air" December 2016.... He formed the band "The Farm Dogs" in summer of 2014 with many changeovers in personnel but the playlist remained the same.
The Farm Dogs booked gigs with Puckett's Restaurant and Grocery in their Murfreesboro, Columbia, Downtown Nashville and Leiper's Fork locations. And various Distilleries and Breweries in Middle Tennessee. The band worked hard on the record release November 2018 with the lead song name of "Duggin Hallow".

Brian Mac's philosophy in music.. "The song must tell a story. Take the listener to another place and time. Once that is reached, you have a song that the listener will remember. Even might hum the chorus as they walk out the door.." "Oh, and you gotta have a Hook"...
